What: Mercury in Leo
When: June 26 - Sept. 2, 2025
Who’s Impacted: Everyone, but esp. Leo (obviously)
TL;DR: a feisty me-first strut for the planet of all things talk and text, this transit urges you to speak boldly, promote shamelessly, and stop whispering when you want a standing ovation. But an upcoming Mercury Retrograde could send us into meltdown territory.
It’s SHOWTIME! On June 26, mind-planet Mercury enters feisty and focused fire sign Leo, igniting your communications, interactions and day-to-day life. At least until Sept. 2—and if you’re wondering to yourself, “Gosh, that sure seems like an awfully long time for Mercury to be in Leo,” you’d be right. It is an awfully long time for Mercury to be in one sign (Mercury usually zips through a sign in three-ish weeks). And it’s taking its sweet-ass time through Leo because of MERCURY RETROGRADE. Yep, come July 17, Mercury stations retrograde in Leo—but until that time (and after that time, really.), your conversations, interactions, routine, and hunger for the spotlight are getting turned up to 11.
If Mercury is the messenger, then Mercury in Leo is the main character with a megaphone, strutting onto the stage to announce their presence, their latest revelation, and their new signature scent. This transit is like giving a microphone to an emcee. Or a lighter to a pyromaniac. The comms planet in the fixed fire sign craves encores and applause for every message sent—whether it’s a late-night voice note, a spicy Substack post, or a full-on PowerPoint about why your ex sucks. It’s not just about talking louder—it’s about being heard. Being celebrated. Being seen and adored and maybe even going viral in the group chat.
And in the absence of that? Well, Mercury in Leo loves to throw a tantrum. And have a meltdown before primal screaming into the void. You know, Leo stuff.
On a mundane level, Mercury in Leo turns all communication into theater. So, expect: politicians and public figures giving dramatic speeches with zero follow-through (when don’t they do that, though?); influencers monologuing about “main character energy” while peddling collagen (ditto to the prior parenthetical); attention-hogs mistaking charisma for character; an uptick in hot takes, oversharing, and people using Instagram like it’s a confessional booth; everyone suddenly thinking they’re a brand. (Especially the ones who aren’t.)
None of this is inherently bad, I guess—in fact, more authenticity, more hot takes, more fiery opinions and truth-telling can be good for us and the world. As long as it’s in moderation (and without too much drama.) So for you, this transit encourages you to say what you really want, how you want to say it—and say it LOUD. Think: declarations of intent, unapologetic boundary-setting, bold declarations of love (or loathing), and finally owning the idea that yes, you’re allowed to take up space and shine. I’m still learning to accept that truth.
For realsies, though: 2025 Mercury in Leo is THE transit for self-promoting, for bragging and tooting your own horn, and for infusing a little bit of spice and melodrama into your everyday routine, texts, or chit-chats. (Better idea: channel that need for heat into a spicy romcom novel!) It’s also a transit that can give you a little more courage and confidence to speak your mind. Mercury in Leo can help you promote your passions and entertain the hell out of everyone (or yourself) with bold ideas, razor-sharp observations, and funny anecdotes. It can do all of that; if you let it. If you work with it.
If Mercury in Leo had a motto, it’d be: “Scream it from the rooftops.” So here I am, cosmically screaming: I’m co-directing Queens of Noise, a film about friendship, failure, and finally going for it—and the IndieGoGo is live. Wanna make some noise with me? I’d SOOO appreciate your support. (Even if you just share it with others!)
Mercury in Leo Shadow
Let’s be clear about one thing, though: this transit isn’t all encores and applause, with people hanging onto your every word like you’re some kind of cosmic Beyoncé. Mercury in Leo wants your words to dazzle, sure—but it doesn’t guarantee they’ll land. You might think you're giving award-winning soliloquy, but to everyone else? You're just being a little much. And that revelation can cause a major meltdown. (Notice a theme here? Mercury in Leo = mental heat and passionate rhetoric, which is fine until it isn’t, you know?)
