OK. You’ve very nearly made it through yet another year—kudos to you-dos—but we’ve still got another zodiac season shift until the big 2025 gets here. Speaking of 2025…have you heard that it’s a BIG deal? BECAUSE IT IS. I’ve been finalizing my 2025 Astrology Workshop, combing over the top transits of next year—namely, Mars & Venus Retrograde, the new Pisces/Virgo eclipse series, Neptune & Saturn in Aries, AND Uranus in Gemini—and I’m shook.
(Btw, I will have 2025 Rising Sign readings—exclusive for paid subscribers—dropping in the new year. But if you’d like a personalized reading, check out my 2025 Astrology Reading.) 2025 looks like one of those once-every-generation types of years. The kind of year that teases a new era of leadership, values, collective connectivity, and brings about heaps of change that I’m not sure I want or can even expect. Which is why before I get into Capricorn season and all the astrology that comes with it, I would like us to pause.
After all, the Capricorn Solstice (aka Winter in the Northern Hemisphere) is our longest, darkest day of the year. Sure, hardworking Capricorn is a sign of pushing forward no matter how fatigued or frustrated you are, but I don’t want you to do that. Because I don’t want to do that. At least, not. Right. Now. (To say I’m exhausted is an understatement!) So, what if you didn’t push yourself to perform or be super productive? What if you slowed down, rested, and let yourself go dark? If just for one day?
That’s how I encourage you to work with the first day of Capricorn season. Because 2024 was rough—astrologically, politically, personally—and 2025 isn’t looking like it’s pulling any punches. So, instead of racing towards Jan. 1 with your tank half-full, and your brain and body nearly numb from exhaustion, just…take it easy. Go easy on yourself. Reflect on the things you’ve done, the lessons you’ve learned, and the things you’d like to do in the future. Set your intentions, then think about how you can commit to them. But don’t get too bossy about doing them right now. Know that when you give yourself time to rest, you’re helping your future self. (Giving myself permission to rest is always a struggle. So, the above message is partly for you, partly for me.) Anyway, now onto the forecast!
Capricorn season, which runs from Dec. 21 to Jan. 20 (ish), is a season of cynicism, materialism, and soooo much judgment. Just kidding! In all honesty, the Saturn-ruled cardinal earth sign has inherited some of its planetary ruler’s…shall we call them quirks? You know: the Scrooge-like greed and puritanical obsession with practicality; as well as the somberness, the egotism—and let’s not forget the infamous been-there-done-that omniscient narrator thing that even the youngest, most inexperienced Capricorns somehow possess (especially when telling you you’re wrong).
While it’s true that Capricorn has a reputation for being the zodiac’s crusty old grandpa, the sign still has a lot going for it. It is at once an ambitious, level-headed, industrious and loyal sign with the grit, tenacity, and pragmatism to make even the dizziest daydreams a real effing thing. Which is why Capricorn season is actually a lively and energizing time. Especially for your goals, professional projects, LinkedIn profile, career portfolio, investments, and legacy.
Why all the work, build, organize, and enterprise stuff? Because Capricorn’s M.O. is to focus on tangible results; to work, strive, sacrifice, and finish what you start. From now until Jan. 19, the part of your chart ruled by Capricorn is being activated by the Sun, and is receiving a flood of light and energy. This, in turn, energizes and motivates you to build, organize, and construct—through hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and tenacity—a sturdy foundation for future achievements. This is the part of your life and chart where you boss up, where your industriousness is unmatched, and where your desire to succeed is as strong as your work ethic to make it real. And from now until Jan. 19, it’s lit.
Now, this year and the first three or so weeks of 2025, the sea goat’s go-around the Sun is about balancing ambition and adaptability. (There’s still a heavy emphasis on building your future—proactively, pragmatically—but the catch this time is to not lose sight of your (seemingly) unrealistic dreams.) And in true Capricorn fashion, the astrology is hard at work:
