Apologies for the title—it’s neither click-baity nor terribly thrilling. But that’s because I wanted to give it to you straight: the ~major~ astrology happening this week is indeed the onset of Pisces season and Mars’ direct motion in Cancer. The rest of the astro-events this week also involve these two signs, so it’s definitely a watery week. That means lots of emotional waves—nostalgia, sentimentality, sensitivity, overwhelm, etc.—that hopefully don’t drench you. Obviously, if you’re a water sign, or you have many placements in a water sign, you’re in your element. Fire, air, and earth signs? Depends on how comfortable you are with feeling.
Still, Mars direct on Sunday, Feb. 23, is good news for everyone across the board. It marks an end to the nearly three-month-long period of burnout, hesitation, low-or-no-energy and pervasive ugh feelings. Mars direct means your drive is BACK. There’s no more sluggish, stuck energy. But let’s manage expectations: things won’t suddenly catapult forward come Sunday (as Mars is still in its retrograde shadow and will remain there until April), but this does mark an end to low energy, emotional overwhelm, and lack of confidence oh-so characteristic of Mars Retrograde. So, YAY!
But that’s Sunday, and it’s something you’ll more than likely notice next week. In between now and then, we have the second biggest astrology shift of the week: the Sun moves into Pisces, aka Pisces season begins Feb. 18. This signifies your usual zodiac season shift in priorities and themes. So, wherever Pisces is in your chart is where the themes of self-sacrifice, surrender, heightened creativity, imagination and occasional emotional overwhelm / avoidance will be lit up for the next 30-ish days. This is also the same area of your life where Mercury, Neptune, and the North Node are currently residing and likely causing lots o’ confusion.
Overall, this week asks you to take care—of yourself, of your loved ones, of the complete strangers who need it most. Pisces season encourages compassion and selfless giving; while Mars direct in Cancer helps to unblock the flow of care-driven actions. At least, that’s how we want to work with this astrology. Water signs are emotional, yes, but they are also highly sensitive to the needs of others and are especially adept at healing the hurt and washing away (emotional) debris. Anyway, that’s the gist. Here’s the actual astrology:
Feb. 18 – Sun enters Pisces
Feb. 20 – Mercury in Pisces squares Jupiter in Gemini, 11°
Feb. 23 – Mercury in Pisces trine Mars Rx in Cancer, 17°
Feb. 23 – Mars stations Direct in Cancer, 17°
☀️ Feb. 18 – Sun enters Pisces
And just like that, the vibes get dreamier, moodier, and a lot less linear. Pisces season is a time of creativity, intuition, and emotional depth, which is great news if you’ve been feeling uninspired. Water signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio), you’re in your element. But for the rest of us? It’s easy to get lost in the sauce of daydreams and nostalgia. Use this season to lean into your imagination and spiritual side—but don’t ghost reality completely…

Exaggeration? Overpromising? Saying way too much and then regretting it later? That’s the vibe. This transit supercharges your words and ideas but makes it tricky to discern fact from fiction. The good news? It’s amazing for storytelling, brainstorming, and wild creative ideas. The challenge? Not getting carried away by your own hype. Mutable signs (Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius), double-check the receipts before you go all-in…

🔥 Feb. 23 – Mercury in Pisces trine Mars Rx in Cancer, 17°
A rare moment of clarity in this emotion-heavy week. This transit boosts intuition and emotional decisiveness, helping you finally say what you’ve been struggling to articulate. It’s especially helpful for water signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio), if you often second-guess yourself. Just be mindful—Mars is nearly direct but still retrograde, so progress might not happen instantly, but trust that your words have power…
🚀 Feb. 23 – Mars stations Direct in Cancer, 17°
FINALLY. Since December, Mars retrograde in Cancer has made motivation feel like trying to run underwater—frustrating, exhausting, and unnecessarily emotional. But now, the energy shifts. Momentum returns. Things start moving again. Cancer, Aries, and Scorpio, you’ll feel this the most, but everyone gets a boost. Just don’t rush—Mars in Cancer is more about intuitive action than impulsive leaps. Trust your gut, but also pace yourself…
